Here are some guidelines for utilising a GPS map app, using Google Maps as an example:

Locate your destination by tapping the top search box and typing the name or address of the location you wish to go. Google Maps will recommend relevant sites as you type. When the right location shows up in the search results, tap on it.
To begin navigating, hit the "Directions" button located at the bottom of the page after choosing your route. After you select a route, Google Maps will enter navigation mode and show you turn-by-turn directions.
Observe the guidelines: Google Maps will talk you through each forthcoming turn and manoeuvre as you navigate. As you follow these directions, pay attention to the map for visual cues.
Modify the settings as necessary: You can change the display settings or avoid tolls, highways, or ferries while the navigation is underway. Tap the menu symbol (often three horizontal lines) in the upper left corner of the screen to bring up these options, and then tap "Settings" > "Navigation settings."
Remain informed: Google Maps will continually adjust your itinerary in response to current traffic conditions. The software will suggest alternate routes if there are any delays or traffic issues on your route, allowing you to get to your destination more quickly.
When you arrive at your destination, Google Maps will notify you of your arrival and, if parking is available, will offer parking information. Then, by tapping the "End" button, you can put a stop to the navigation session.
